Read MoreWe at Dexter Baptist Church seek to reach the unsaved with the Gospel, disciple believers, and serve Jesus obediently in all areas of our lives.
Church life in Dexter has always been of preeminent importance. Though many rural churches surrounded the town, there were two main churches, the Baptist and the Methodist. On the fourth Sunday in July 1893, Elders B.C. Green J.W. Green and J.A. Clark constituted the Dexter Baptist Church. Among the first members were Nettie Clark, R.M. Green, Viny Green, Cilla Mullis, Anna Smith, Jeany Smith, Nancy Smith, Sarena Smith, J.G. Thomas and J.S. Thomas. The church’s presbytery was composed of B.A. Bacon, P.A. Jessup and the Rev. N.F. Gay. Reverends P.A. Jessup, J.T. Rogers, J.A. Clark, J.T. Smith, S.F. Simms, E.F. Dye, F.B. Asbell, George W. Tharpe and Q.J. Pinson served the church in the town’s first twenty five years. Initial services were held in the two-story school house until a permanent structure could be erected about the year 1903. This wooden building was used until 1960.

We take immense pride in extending a warm hand of friendship and support through these lunches, fostering a strong sense of community and togetherness. Welcome to the beautiful Dexter Baptist Cemetery, a tranquil and revered space where loved ones can find their eternal resting place. We are honored to provide a dignified and peaceful burial ground for human remains.
As a gesture of appreciation for their commitment to our beloved Dexter Baptist Church, active members have the opportunity to request a burial lot for two, measuring 10 X 10, absolutely free of charge. We believe it is our duty to support and care for those who have chosen to be a part of our faith community.
For non-members who wish to lay their loved ones to rest in our serene cemetery, we warmly welcome your applications. A burial lot for two, measuring 10 X 10, can be secured for a nominal fee of $500. While this fee helps us maintain and enhance the cemetery, it also ensures that we can continue providing a sacred space for everyone, regardless of their church affiliation.
To learn more about our cemetery services, including lot availability, guidelines, and regulations, we encourage you to reach out to Lesia Hogan at 478-984-7124 or Danny Hogan at 478-984-6415. They will be delighted to assist you and answer any questions you may have.
At Dexter Baptist Cemetery, we understand the importance of honoring and cherishing the memory of our loved ones. Allow us to be a part of your family's legacy, providing a peaceful resting place that will be a testament to their lives and the love they shared with us.
Please feel free to send us your prayer requests to jeremiahsluss@gmail.com. We would be more than happy to pray for you.
